The PI-SPI-DIN series was designed to be DIN Rail mountable. Normally, all modules are connected to the main module - the PI-SPI-DIN-RTC-RS485. This main module supplies 5 VDC to the RPi, the applied field voltage (typically 24 VDC) to the PI-SPI-DIN series modules, and buffered SPI, I2C and Chip Select lines to the PI-SPI-DIN series modules.
In some applications, if the PI-SPI-DIN-RTC-RS485 features are not required, then the 26P-16P-PI-SPI-DIN-Adapter comes in handy.
This adapter plugs into the RPi GPIO header (first 26 pins). The field power is applied to the terminal block +V and COM connections, and the supplied 16 Pin ribbon cable goes to the first PI-SPI-DIN Series Module. NOTE: the RPi still has to be powered from the 5VDC Mini-USB connector.
A typical PI-SPI-DIN application:
Replace the PI-SPI-DIN-RTC-RS485 with the RPi and Adpater:
Connect the RPI / PI-SPI-DIN Adapter to the PI-SPI-DIN series modules with the supplied 16 Pin ribbon cable.
